Chicago Museum is Home for a Month

Museum is Home for a Month for Chicago Woman, by Shelby Lin Erdman, CNN

October 25, 2010 1:42 a.m. EDT

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
- Kate McGroarty won a promotion contest to spend a month in a museum

- She's in her second week at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry

- McGroarty has developed a fan following on Twitter and among visitors to the museum

- "I've always loved this museum, and I've always loved adventure," she says.

I saw the article in CNN and had to re-post it! Can you imagine staying a museum for a month?! Where was I when the contest was announced!?

One of my favorite books of all times, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler had a brother and sister duo solving a mystery at a museum. So what if it is a 3rd grade level book - if you are an adult who missed the 1980s, go find this book and read it. A true adventure in a museum...with art lessons included.

I wonder if Ms. McGroarty has any mysteries to solve?!

What museum would you want to stay in for a month? What would you do first there? What would you do last? Would you want a mystery to solve?

PS: Happy Halloween!

Prado in Madrid. First, I would attempt to view every painting. Second, I would make contacts for a future part time position (perhaps writing press releases). I would want to solve a simple mystery. I wonder who it is that subjectively chooses the art that is displayed. I have visited several times looking for certain paintings, only to be told they were not displaying it on that particular day.

Art Wolfe Museum in Portland. He is the most amazing outdoor photographer that I have ever seen. I would go and take it all in one photograph at a time. Mr. Wolfe has his office there as well so before I left I would want to set down and talk with him about what he does.... not mentioning once what type of equipment or technique he uses. Each of his images seem to tell a story all their own so I am not sure there would be a mystery...
