Haikus and Art

One of my favorite lessons from Curious Paris is the haiku.

Special thanks to Julie S. for unwittingly inspiring this little painting.
Yes, the humble and simple haiku. The poem format we all learned yet quickly forgot way back in school. Poems can be about the silly little things in life!

We shared our haiku poems during Curious Paris with ahhhs and giggles.

When Curious Paris ended, my friends and I shared haiku poems while exploring Paris together.

This little poem format is so easy, silly, and creative!!! Thank you, Cynthia, for reminding us of it! If you would like to read Cynthia's haiku poems, she shares many on her blog.

The format for a haiku is as follows:

Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables

You have permission from Cynthia to switch the lines to 7, 5, 7 syllables.

Here are two of my recent haiku poems:

Paris freedoms float
Bills paid from trip makes light heart
Earn more for next trip!

which goes along with

Mindless meeting drones
Sparks quietly fly round me
Silent pen draws lines.

If you are looking for a version of Curious Paris in your own home, Cynthia is sponsoring a Free Write event in October. You can check it out at her website Original Impulse

Smiles!!!!
