Sunrise Over Mountain Rocks, 4 x 6 in., encaustic on paper, 2010
Encaustic is a totally different type of "painting." Not sure to even call it painting, but more controlling and surprising. When the wax melts, it moves. The pigment sometimes stains after the wax is gone. Really strange and challenging because if not careful, the whole piece looks like the color of mud. That's something that sorta bothers me about the wax: can't really mix colors too much. What I love: The surprise scenes, the pigment stains, the richness of color.
This one was a surprise.
Smiles!

Okay, this is actually my favorite one so far... Incredible..... I just can't quit looking.
Jason,
I am working on a series of making these larger, let's say 20 x 24 inches....Slow work. LOL
