Lucky 13 Surprise Materials in Art

Quick list of "weird" things that I use in art:

1. Beach sand (mainly from Florida's east coast, but I do have a minor collection)
2. Recycled office paper
3. Cut and/or recycled wood
4. Sawdust
5. Bandages
6. Wallpaper samples
7. Rubber stamping
8. Lamination film
9. Cardboard
10. Cuban coffee (cafe' cubano), no sugar, and/or instant coffee
11. Tea
12. White glue
13. Concrete roof tile

I am sure I have missed some items, but wanted the list to be 13.

To all fathers and children: enjoy the ending of this year's Father's Day. If you still have yours, celebrate with him daily. If you don't, celebrate the happy memories.

So, why is it that you choose to use these materials in your art and not just the standard oils, watercolors etc? What is it about these items that you feel adds to your art? Is it the texture or does the media play a more active roll (such as sand for beach paintings etc) Sorry for so many questions but I am trying to learn and understand more...thanks in advance for your answer!!

A-M: Not "weird" at all. That's why I love artists so much. They simply think differently from the rest of us - and we can learn a great deal.

JJ: As I can learn a great deal from other artists and those that don't think they are artists. You ARE an artist - you use words instead of paint.

Jason: Future blog post, just for you. =)
