5 Things Learned about Copyright – Life is Art Seminar

The folks of Life Is Art gave a great seminar on April 12th.

1. The art reviews on my blog are within copyrights for all involved because
        - credit is given to the artist who created the work
        - photos, work, etc. are used for informational and educational purposes.
2. The copyright of any painting belongs to me and images of art can be used as I see fit, even if the art was commissioned.
3. Art created as "for hire" such as a logo, etc. needs a clearly written contract that covers use of image, limitations, etc. to protect both artist and person requesting work.
4. Always keep creation dates of all creative works on the actual work and/or on file.
5. Providing links to other artists, sources of information, etc. are double bonus for a website because those links help protect copyrights and are good social media practices.

Special thanks to Fabian Pierre, Esquire who presented the information on the evening of April 12, 2011 at the Life is Art SeminART that was held at ArtLab66.

You are invited to TWO events!
Some of my art will be presented at Life Is Art Showcases South Florida at The Shops at Boca Center on April 30th, 2011. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information about The Shops at Boca Center, please visit www.bocacenter.com. For more information on Life Is Art, please visit www.lifeisartfest.org.

The second event is on May 7th at Dharma Studio during Coconut Grove's Second Saturday Art Walk. My art Florida Heat will be on display this evening from 7pm to 11pm. The art and event is friends and family friendly! See you there!
