The Louvre and the Stolen Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa. The famous portrait of a lady by Leonardo Da Vinci. I remember jumping high enough to see her over a crowd.  Yes, the Mona Lisa is fascinating. She is loved and desired by many, and stolen a few times, too. There was a recent article at ArtInfo.com about stealing the Mona Lisa that summarizes how she was last stolen 1911 by Peruggia. If you want to read more, a quick search in Amazon yields three books by Noah CharneyCarson Morton, and Darian Leader.

The Louvre website is delightfully fun. There is a cartoon character that you can follow that explains a chosen set of artifacts. Go check it out at The Louvre Museum Website.

While I was in Paris, of course I visited the Louvre a couple of times! This was the closest I got to Ms. Mona Lisa...just because there other treasures to enjoy without having to fight a crowd.

Do you have a favorite art treasure at the Louvre? If you were to visit the Louvre, what art treasure is a must-see for you?

The usual crowds in front of the Mona Lisa.

I am returning to this post because I love it so much. Is envy still a sin?
