Once Drove Through Florida Art Exhibit Press Release and Invitation

One of the behind the scenes things to do for an art exhibit is write a press release. Here is my attempt...since you're on my blog - you get a more informal invitation.

Oh, I have postcard announcements made for my art exhibit and would love to share them with you. If you send your U.S. Postal address to angeline@angelinemarie.net, I will send a postcard to you!

ONCE DROVE THROUGH FLORIDA
Art Exhibit at The Children’s Gallery and Art Center

Homestead, FL – August 20, 2011 – Angeline Marie presents an exhibition of paintings Once Drove Through Florida at the Children’s Gallery and Art Center in Homestead, Florida. The exhibition opens the evening of Saturday, August 20th and runs through September 13th, 2011.

The art exhibit Once Drove Through Florida by Angeline-Marie will feature encaustic and mixed media paintings showcasing her non-traditional interpretations and perceptions of Florida, palm trees, and the ocean from eye level to sky level. The textures, colors, and moods of Angeline-Marie’s paintings guide will take your mind on a drive through Florida on its back roads and sky ways.

Angeline Marie resides in Miami-Dade County where she began her artistic career in 1999. Her paintings feature landscapes, figures, and animals with many different materials such as acrylics, encaustics, and found objects. It was with Baruj Salinas and Ismael Gomez-Peralta that the artist developed her style of celebrating nature with a dark twist. She currently shares her unique art at www.angelinemarie.net.

About Angeline Marie Martinez
Angeline uses her existing environment combined with desire and passion to influence her landscapes. Her paintings nudge viewers into coming closer and conjuring visions of imagined places and pasts. Her landscapes are designed to “take you out of this world.”

Green with Red Trees Everglades - Hot Off the Easel

Green with Red Trees Everglades ©2011 Angeline Marie
encaustic on panel 8 x 8 inches

The rhythm of this encaustic painting is a little different than those of the past because I used an encaustic iron.

Goes a little something like this:

melt
heat
swipe swipe
heat
swipe swipe
melt
swipe
heat
drip
swipe
cool
carve
heat
melt
swipe swipe
carve
heat
cool
shine

The more than one swipe means that a few passes of the encaustic iron was made over the 12x12 inch clapboard panel.

This post is for Macarena, who mentioned she was enjoying these rhythm posts when we spoke at my Florida Heat art exhibit on May 7th.

Save the date! You are invited to share more art on Saturday, August 20th, at the Children's Gallery and Art Center!

Singer Island, Florida - Motorcycle Trip!

What a rush! My first long distance trip on a motorcycle, with my hot driver Andy! We did a total of 500 miles, going around Lake Ockechobee to Singer Island, Florida. Having never traveled that way, it was great driving off the highway!

One of the views on the way to Belle Glade.

Flora & Ella’s in Belle Glade: the BEST fried chicken, fried catfish, and PIES! Wow! Fried chicken like my Mama makes! While waiting for food, I sketched while Andy played with his "crackberry" phone.

The view from the hotel window: gorgeous!

Needless to write, but we had a difficult time returning to work on Monday! What a great weekend (thanks, Andy!!!)

Everglades City Seafood Festival last Weekend

Andy and I shared great food at the Seafood Festival in Everglades City. This was our first long ride on Andy's BMW motorcycle. Not bad. I have to work on my endurance, LOL!

Finally got around to uploading photos from last weekend. Not many photo opportunities, but the ride with Andy on the Beemer was great. I took some shots of where the "show" motorcycles park. Otherwise, the photos would be mostly crowds.

My fave photos are of the Everglades. I love watching the colors ripple. Most people think Florida is all green, but notice the shades of reds, silvers, blues and golds!
