Still here...Yellow Mountains with

Daisy ICAD Challenge...card #1...Yellow Mountains with Startling Skies. Approximately 3x5 inches, mixed media on paper.
Husband Andy is on a motorcycle adventure and is at Bryce Canyon today. My friend Karla left yesterday after visiting for a happy fun girl-talk week.

2014 went from audacious to be gentle.

I'm going to try to draw an index size card every day for the next 60? 90? days. Join me?

I won't be posting daily to my blog, lol, during this challenge. Way too much stress...when trying to kindly get myself back into my art studio.

Smiles to you, where ever you are.

PS: love it? Please share this post. It is available for sale, too, $28.

These paintings are so "hot of the easel," that they are not on my website yet (scheduled for update January, 2011 - last update was November, 2010. Did you check it out yet?!)

These paintings were created by using acrylics, watercolor pencils, and white glue. The paintings were begun in October, 2010 and for how they may have looked at their start please click on this sentence to take you to the post "Art in Progress - Paintings at Work."

Paintings were inspired by the trip taken through the Smokey Mountains in 2010. For more about that trip, please click that sentence. Special thanks to my fiance, Andy, for allowing me to be the "Art Chica On the Back" and take a couple thousand photos for references. Without him, well, I am sure I would live just fine but I certainly would be less happy (yes, Mama, our joke y te quiero)!

Next blog post will be announcing a monthly contest for 2011 and how you can win note or post cards, magnets, and perhaps other things!

"Ocean, Mountain, Shore," Beeswax on paper, 2009

This is another new abstract art painting done with the new-to-me technique of encaustics (beeswax). Another happy accident, perhaps a little overworked, but I did stop before ruining it. It's a one of a kind, because there is no way to make a print of these pieces as far as I know.

Just playing with the wax, out of the melt came an ocean, mountain, and a shore. The clouds remind me of the beautiful sunrise we had this morning, too, just before it turned all cold and gray.

Title: Ocean, Mountain, Shore
Media: Beeswax on paper
Size: 5 in. x 7 in.
