Day 30 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days!!!!! Challenge Ends!

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! Dancing with JOY!!! Made it through 30 days and 30 Paintings!!!!

This is a little mixed media piece that is 8 x 10 inches. It has acrylics and watercolors. It is the last (for now) of the New Foundland, Canada landscapes.

The last few days of September have been the most difficult. It's hard to get to my art studio when family wants to go out and do things. I've learned quite a lot of how to make portable fun paintings.

One of the paintings was finished right on Duval Street, Key West, Florida! Another two mixed media pieces shared this month are not for sale because it is inside of my sketchbook...I forgot to take small pieces of watercolor paper with me. Today is the last day!!!

Will I do this challenge again? OH YEAH. Do I have different challenges to meet now? OH YEAH. I'm working on making 2014 one of my best art fun years, ever. First, still need to enjoy the rest of 2013!

What recent challenge have you triumphantly celebrated conquering? Would love to know!

Day 28 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Palm Trees Dark Browns, 5 x 3 inches, acrylics and watercolors, $28

Tough to think of New Foundland, Canada when surrounded by heat and palm trees. We went for a dunk at Bahia Honda and a short walk at the Seven Mile Bridge. We sit at Angelina's Pizza on Duval Street, Key West, enjoying the people watching while I finish today's painting.

What are you doing this beautiful day?

Day 27 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

More New Foundland Trees, 3 x 5 inches,
mixed media on paper

Margaret asked me about yesterday's painting on Facebook. Was it watercolor? Yesterday's was mixed media: markers, acrylics, and watercolor.

Today's painting is another mixed media painting. It has acrylics, but as I am writing this away from my studio, I don't remember what else it has right now.

Most of my paintings begin with leftover paint, paper scraps, and other materials. Some begin at the same time and end on different days. Little wonder I'm not sure what is in this one without having it my hand.

See you tomorrow!

Day 26 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Gros Morne Shore, New Foundland, Canada 3 x 5 inches,
mixed media on paper, $28
Made it, even with a head cold happily visiting me. The cold is happy with me, not me with it!

Any way. This is very much like the wonderful shores of the Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne Park Canada New Foundland. Try saying that sentence aloud...LOL.

Four days left. I'm going to miss going back to New Foundland every night. Are you?

Day 25 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Ah, the Tablelands of New Foundland. There is actually land that looks like this...undulating browns and curves with patches of green.

Today's painting almost matches a photo shot from the road, while on the back of Andy's motorcycle.

Maybe next month, since the challenge will end soon, I will upload actual photos from our New Foundland, Canada trip.

Maybe.

There are five days left of the challenge. I am excited that I've made it this far...and super tired. It was a fun adventure on that trip my husband Andy and I took just this August. It's been fun re-visiting the adventures by painting from memories.

Maybe I will do this challenge by myself again...but this time go back to South Africa, 2007. Maybe.

Only five days left. Will you miss me?

Day 24 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Tablelands with Trees, New Foundland, Canada, 3 x 5 inches,
acrylic techniques on paper, $28
A few days left of visiting New Foundland, Canada with you.

The hills and mountains reminded me of the Blue Ridge Parkway that Andy and I visited back in 2010. There were days that the northern Appalachian Mountains were similar purples, blues, and golds. Those are the colors I tried to capture in this little painting.

How'd I do?

Day 17 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Oh, Those Newfie Trees! 3 x 5 inches, acrylics on paper, $28
Driving through New Foundland, Canada was an incredible experience. Being on the back of Andy's motorcycle is like living in high definition. The trees are amazing...but am sure you've already read that some time in the last 16 days, ja-ja.

Ever Pick Up Rocks?

We picked up some wonderfully beautiful shells and rocks while visiting St. Anthony's, New Foundland (Newfie), Canada this summer.

There were a couple of larger candy tins in my stash of boxes. They are the perfect size to hold the rocks, the periwinkle shells, and the strange petrified sea foam rock we collected.

Once am done decorating my box, I will  be instantly back in New Foundland...just a short day dream trip just by opening it!

If you collect small treasures while you travel strange-to-you lands, where do you keep them when you get home?

Want to see how these boxes turned out? The inside cover paintings/ mixed media design were my Day 1, 1st of 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. Hop over to see!

Day 15 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

More NewFi Flowers, 5 x 3 inches,
acrylics on paper, $28
This one was hard. Thought of painting over it and doing something else.

This is not my favorite. I kept adding paint, colors, values...and quit tonight.

I don't have to love everything painting or drawing or design I make. I am allowed to hate it.

There are other paintings on my easel that make me happier....I return to those paintings.

Every happily quit a self-given project? Why?

Day 14 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Gros Morne's Western Brook Pond #1, 3x5 inches,
mixed media on paper, $28

A small study for today, just to enter the weekend. Andy, my husband, was dreaming for months of seeing Park Canada's Gros Morne.

Like all that want to visit the Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne Park Canada, New Foundland, we walked for over a mile and half.

We then boarded a boat with about 50 other people. Cameras competed and were splashed. People jostled. Me? I began joining all the ooos and ahhhs, took a few snapshots, and drew and colored in my sketchbook. I decided Andy and Tim could take the photos for me.

Today, after a long tiring week, have only this little "study" to show. I promise that tomorrow I WILL GET INTO MY STUDIO. Right now, our Florida weather is still hot and the pool is calling.

Anything calling out to you on this day?

To artists in Colorado: wishing you safety and love.

Smiles,
Angeline Marie of

Day 13 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

November Colors Palm Tree, 6 x 6 inches, mixed media on paper, $28

This is a stencil? A print? Not sure how to describe this, other than it fits my Absence of Green palm tree series.

This month, this challenge is supposed to be about New Foundland. Other than the thought that I had while riding behind my husband on his motorcycle, consider this still meeting the intent of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days... just because it was done this month, LOL.

The ocean is spectacular in New Foundland. It is stunning with its steel blues, colorful rocky shores, periwinkles, and fascinating trees. The ocean seemed sad to me...no beach umbrellas, no sandy towels, no palm trees.

If I ever visit New Foundland again, the beach chair in a truck shall go with me so I can paint by their seaside. I do agree that the water is too cold for swimming...and I did miss the palm trees while enjoying what my husband Andy and I began calling Newfie Trees

 Smiles,
